need help with antenna for fm transmitter

Post by jgapril »

OK, lets see if I can explain this. First let me say that I belong to a MARDI GRAS riding dunebuggy group, that participates in the New Orleans Mardi Gras. We decided that we would like to play the same music in ALL the bugs, and thus I purchased a FM TRANSMITTER, so I can play a recorded cd and broadcast it to all the other bugs. Now come the problem, I purchased this unit USED, and it is without antenna. I am at a lost as to what to exactly use. I believe the antenna input on the unit is:

RF connector, similiat to what I am familiar with that would go on a bearcat scanner handheld unit. I slides down with 2 pins sticking out and locks around the pins.

I want to use a 3, 4 or 5 foot fiberglass antenna with this, but the only one I can find locally is a truckers cb antenna. CAN THIS BE USED?

OR what do you suggest.

many, thanksJ

Its the best magnet base antenna for FM broadcasting band I have seen.

We have a type, called PCS6600, it is similar with the magnet base, only the base is different.

Its not listed on the website, thought.

But it is not fiberglass
