Antenna Painting

Post by hookahradio »

What effect would painting have upon a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna, or any antenna for that matter? I want to use a light blue acrylic lacquer to help camouflage my antenna against the sky. It would also help against corrosion. Let me know of any problems, thanks!

You might get some refelective power back into the tx. I personal would'nt worry about hiding it.

Depending on paint type it could change your SWR a bit and you
might have to retune antenna. It might also increase losses a little
bit depending on colour type. Probably it won't be noticeable.
