New AM transmitter?

Post by OgreVorbis »

I noticed on your AM transmitter page that it says you're bringing it back with a new version. What features are in the new version?

I have been interested in AM broadcasting for a while, but I am unable to find high quality transmitters. The only ones available are the low quality ones from Greece. Anyway, I thought I'd make some suggestions.

Maybe use the DDS AD9850 chip instead of PLL VCO (assuming that is what it is now).
Also, it would be nice to have C-QUAM stereo.

Maybe you'd also want to sell linear amps for AM (AFAIK no one seems to sell these). I have a schematic for 100W (400W PEP) AM amplifier using cheap IRFP audio mosfets that work on medium wave band.

You should be able to order it soon, shipping begins early December. You will be able to place orders 1-2 weeks sooner though.

It will work from 48V
Output: BNC
Power: 12-15W (Peak 60-80W+)
Same size as MAXPRO FM exciters
Nice audio (have been testing it first time yesterday)

Hi,

I see you have different versions for different frequencies. What is the limiting factor in the frequency range for each model (Is it low pass filter?)
Because I was wondering if I could get one with all frequencies unlocked and then change the filter. Is it possible?

Hi,....in my job I have had discussions with several individuals about AM siting issues. Stations many times lose their land leases or have to sell their land for economic reasons. Landlords and station owners find that the dirt under the AM tower or towers is worth far more for another purpose than as an AM site.

First, in many parts of the world AM is still popular.

Second, this is a small transmitter that doesn't require a massive tower and a land lease to operate.

Hi. Some questions please.

What are the improvements of the AMMAX2000+ if there are any over the AM MAX II (your previous model AM transmitter)?

So is this medium wave transmitter in stock and ready to ship now? Can it go below 540 KHz to say 530 KHz? Or higher up to 1799 KHz? Just below the Ham band.

Are your shortwave transmitter versions still limited to a range of just 1000 KHz?

Is a Long wave transmitter possible. I am a radio ham, but I like to experiment occasionally :D

Yes, it is smaller, more robust, with audio input board you have much more flexibility with audio (balanced XLR, RCA, USB audio).

Cleaned-up design.

Fits same enclosure as our FM exciters.

We can extend frequency up/down a little. Also LW is possible. You will pay for time needed for software/hardware modification though.
