Post Problems with Installation of PCIMax 3000+ Reply with quote
I just purchased and received this product, but can't get it to do anything. I either have a bad board, or am doing something stupid or have the wrong drivers. I installed the drivers linked to in the Drivers Section (the CyberMax... and the USB one). I installed the board as indicated in the documentation, power cable connected internally. I'm running Vista, up to date with updates. I don't see the board in the Device Manager, although drivers were installed (a message popped up, I suspect it was the USB driver, as I can see it in some audio software). And when I run the CyberMax program, nothing. It comes up, I can set power output, frequency etc., but I don't hear any muting on my radio. I couldn't see any Power On button so I'm assuming that when the program starts, it should automatically power on the transmitter. I would hope that if it doesn't see the board, it would generate an error - there's none. And I tried it on several different PCI slots, uninstalling and reinstalling the board driver a few times. Again, no success.

Help!

(I installed everything using administrator privileges, I'm running the CyberMax program in compatibility mode, also tried it at first without that mode, in short, I've tried everything Ican think of)

Go through the manual, instructions for software installation and setting the com port.

Did you set com port?

Also, you need to send data to the transmitter of course.

OK, I missed the appendix on setting up the USB/transmitter port. My mistake. But it still didn't work until I changed the
switch RT/PS to RT in the CyberMax application - I'm assuming that that's the power supply (internal/external) but not sure.

How do I turn the transmitter off - on the old PCIMax boards, there was a pushbutton for power - I tried toggling the RT/PS button but it didn't seem to do anything. I suppose I could change the port (I didn't try that) or maybe there's something else I'm missing.

The problem was probably that you did not press "Update TX".

After you do that it takes a few seconds for the PLL/frequency to be set
and power raised to full.

You can turn the card off by setting power to zero and clicking Update TX.

SAM broadcasting fully supports PCIMAX 3000+ and has a different approach
to the setup, you'd probably like it better.

In the near future there will be an update, it will be possible to schedule
time when the card turns off or on.

Any features you or anyone else misses: Now is a time to ask for them,
they will likely be implemented.

My trick is if I want to toggle between the transmitter and the audio card, I goto the Device manager and where it shows as "USB Audio device", I disable it. This turns the transmitter off and allows whatever your streaming to go through the sound card.

Latest software update lets you turn card on/off at start-up automatically so such workarounds are no longer necessary.

I'm trying to find the latest Cybermax version on your website but I'm not having any luck. The version I downloaded was in July of 2011. I'm at work so I don't know which version I have.

I found a program called "SAM". Has this replaced the Cybermax program?

SAM is a complete radio broadcasting solution, with DSP audio processing, music scheduling, internet radio, commercials etc, all the bells and whistles, and yes it supports pcimax directly, including RDS.
When using SAM you do not need to use our cybermax micro program as SAM does all the work.

Due to DSP processing we highly recommend SAM, it sounds fantastic.
