Right now I have a small low pass filter I built with some of these: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/abracon-llc/AIAC-1812-R10J-T/535-11998-1-ND/3737485

I handles 7W just fine, but I want ...

I noticed on your AM transmitter page that it says you're bringing it back with a new version. What features are in the new version?

I have been interested in AM broadcasting for a while, but I am ...

PostForum: FM transmitters   Posted: Tue May 24, 2016 10:52 pm   Subject: Antenna analyzer and 1kw amp
So after I put the amplifier back on the dummy load, I noticed some tiny sparks forming on one of the gate tabs. It was strange because it didn't seem to be sparking to anything. It appeared only the ...

PostForum: FM transmitters   Posted: Mon May 23, 2016 11:09 pm   Subject: Antenna analyzer and 1kw amp
It is hard for me to adjust the antenna where it is, so I want to make sure it is the problem first.

I found that an SWR of 1.2 with 1kW should mean that roughly 10W is reflected. If this is true, ...

Hi

I tested a 1kW amp into an antenna for the first time after testing on a dummy load. When plugged into the dummy load, I have a temperature of 70C on the mosfet and it stays there for a long tim ...

When I turn up the MPX level on the exciter with the 6000 so that it reaches the same volume level as the 2000, it looks like this. Something isn't right. The two blue pots don't do anything. I also n ...

PostForum: Stereo encoders   Posted: Fri Dec 25, 2015 10:58 pm   Subject: Problem with SE6000 AN+
I am having a problem with a too wide carrier using the SE6000 AN+. The problem is definitely the stereo coder because when using the old SE2000, it is much narrower and the volume is even higher. I t ...

150W PA with BLF278 makes no sense. The BLF278 is a 300W 48V MOSFET.

The supply voltage is much lower than 27V

Power supply seems to obviously be your problem.

I forgot to mention in my email, but I figured out why there was "no SWR" and still managed to burn the transistor. There was a defective surface mount resistor or capacitor that was soldere ...

AFAIK the C1971 is no longer manufactured, so most likely you got a used one which may be partly damaged or you got one of those Chinese clones that doesn't work as well. I've read they were doing thi ...

The rest of the problems were mentioned in this thread before:
- amp not in separate RF shielded section or box
- no +48V RF blocking/filtering with feed-through caps
- exciter several cm/inches aw ...

I will send some photos as soon as I can.

I did notice the 12V supply would increase to 15V when powering the amplifier. When I built a 150W transmitter I didn't have these problems. I didn't reali ...

I attached the MAXPRO5015 to a 800W amplifier. The amplifier needs about 5-6W for full power. I tested the amp before with a low quality Chinese transmitter into a dummy load just to see that it was w ...
