What is PCI MAX 2007?
PCI MAX 2007+ is a computer card that will change the way you listen to your MP3's or other audio via PC. It will effectively change your PC into a stereo FM radio station, it is a small digital FM transmitter in a form of a PCI PC card. You will be able to play your audio files (CD, wav, MP3, real audio etc.) from your PC through radio waves directly to your household radio receiver in the next room, in the living room, across your yard, in whole block of flats....or for the entire village/small city. You need just an ordinary radio receiver to receive your signal. The included software (also available in the support section of this website) lets you set the frequency and the output power. You can either service your living room, garden or an entire community. Get rid of those pesky cables!

How do I install it?
It can never be easier that this. Install this card into your PC as you would any other PC card. Install software and you're ready to broadcast! Software gives you full control over frequency and power. Additional output power and superior audio quality can be obtained by using external power source.
Coupled with MP3 player and scheduling plugins this becomes a fully automated radio station! Perfect for fully automated guided tours, small scale advertising, wireless link from your PC to your stereo in the living room, wireless headsets for translated/interpreted lectures or even a small community radio station...

What is new since PCI MAX 2006?
PCI MAX 2007+ may seem as a fine-tune design upgrade from the PCI MAX 2006+ at first, however some of the improvements are pretty big, though not obvious at the first glance. We listed some of the big and smaller improvements below:
-Pre-emphasis is now selectable (it used to be fixed to 50uS)
- RDS edge connector for easier connectivity (RDS requires RDS daughter board, which is simply plugged in. Old RDS daughter board from model 2006+ is compatible and can be used.
- Much stronger RF output stage for more RF power (more than 2500mW possible) and better immunity to high SWR.
- For example, 1000mW version now typically produces a bit more than 1W (less with bad airflow as temperature protection reduces power a bit)
- Much better output LPF filter (7-element elliptical, same as Max pro 3+).
- All accesories from model 2006+ still compatible.
- Number of small improvements for better sound, stereo separation and increased reliability.
- Improved PCB layout for improved audio quality (less noise from PC).
- Special graphite conductive layeron PCI edge connector greatly improves reliability
- PCI edge connector is now rounded and easily fits into PCI slot
- A much better antenna is now included with the card along with about 2m of coaxial cable and a handy stand
- And yes, we have a new driver on a new CD media

Technical specifications:
- Frequency band: 87.5 (86) -108MHz FM BAND, 50KHz steps
- Stereo mode with excellent stereo separation
- Stereo 3.5 phono socket audio input, jumper cable included
- RDS functionality with optional RDS daughter board
- On-board DC/DC converter for noise-free audio
- Frequency, mode and RF output power adjustment with a click of a mouse (Windows) or with LCD module
- RF output power: >2500mW (2.5W), depending on the model
NOTE: You need external 12-15V stabilized power supply to obtain full output power. All versions starting with 1000mW and up require a good antenna in order to prevent damage to output stage. Consider one of the better antennas from our website or any of the ones listed under accesories (do check those out).

Difference between models of PCI MAX 2007+:
The only difference between different models is output power. Cards typically output up to and over 2000mW. Operation at highest power level requires a case fan blowing onto the output transistor heatsink (from the side). Failure to use such a fan prevents the unit to reach full power as the temp. protection starts to reduce the power. Such a fan is recommended for all versions starting at 1000mW and going up.

What is this RDS thing?
Check this page for more information. Basically it displays station name and sometimes song name (if supported by transmitter) and similar information on a compatible radio receiver. Very popular in Europe, less so in the US. To enable RDS functionality you need to purchase and install RDS daughter board. It plugs into a socket on the PCI MAX 2007+ board.

What kind of antenna should I use?
A small convenient antenna is provided free of charge. This will work fine for your flat or office and may even cover a small property. You can even use this small antenna with any version of pci max, even the 2500mW, but only if you use it without external power supply. This is due to the fact that without external power supply card throtles down and is thus safe from damage when operating with a small antenna.
To really crank up the power and range you need external power supply and a decent antenna. Check under accesories for available types.

What is Y audio splitter?
PCI MAX comes with one phono 3.5 stereo socket, used for audio input. You may want to split this audio input and send it as well to the speakers. There is a good chance that this item will come handy so it makes sense to invest those few euros/dollars.

What is BNC/F adapter?
Standard antenna output on the PCI MAX board is F female connector. You may want to change this to BNC. Our F to BNC convertor does this in a space efficient, cheap and elegant way without any unnecessary cabling. May come handy.
